Smarter onchain signals for the next era of airdrops.
Last week’s airdrop conversations on Farcaster raised a familiar tension: what does meaningful participation actually look like? Rather than argue about whether something is a “real” airdrop, I started exploring what a more holistic reputation system might look like. One that reflects both your onchain behavior and your broader alignment.
SmartDrop is a proposal.
Ok, but what does that actually mean?
Well, the first version is a scoring model based on a mix of social signals and onchain alignment. It includes your Neynar reputation score, Power Badge status, follower metrics, ENS name, Farcaster Pro subscription, and factors like early adoption (low FID). Additional points are awarded for taking the pledge and, in future, for holding the Pro NFT. Scores are capped at 100 and grouped into four tiers: Explorer, Active, Engaged, and Aligned. You can view your individual breakdown directly inside the mini-app.
What’s next for the scoring model?
This is v1, and there are already a few improvements on the roadmap. For example, once Pro status becomes accessible via API and the Pro NFT is live, the current 10-point bonus will likely shift to 5 points for having Pro and 5 points for holding the NFT.
But it’s not just about the score.
SmartDrop is also about building a new kind of social contract for smaller, community-native airdrops.
There’s an optional pledge mechanism built in. You can mint a token that says: I commit to holding at least 50 percent of any airdrop I receive for 28 days, or to using the associated app. The pledge is stored onchain and expressed as a dynamic NFT. It’s a way to express intent and openness to new experiences.
The score will likely evolve, but the token remains yours.
The SmartDrop dynamic credential is an NFT. There is no other SmartDrop token.
