This is one of the most anticipated zk (zero knowledge) rollup layer two blockchains for Ethereum. The team have previously hinted at tokens being issued so it could make sense to use this network to potentially qualify for an airdrop if one were to occur.
zkSync Lite vs zkSync Era
zkSync originally launched with zkSync Lite, however, they have recently launched zkSync Era which is expected to be the dominant chain. It is probably beneficial to use both, however, if you haven’t previously used zkSync lite then it may make more sense to focus on zkSync Era as that is likely to be the focus for future development.
Recommended Steps
While I have no inside knowledge and there is no guarantee that these steps will help qualify, they will help you get used to the network and similar activities have helped with the launch of previous airdrops.
Bridge Ethereum onto network
You may want to bridge over 1 Ethereum or over $10,000 USD if possible as volume has been a qualifier or multiplier for previous airdrops within the broader crypto ecosystem. It can be worth using the official bridge, but you may also want to try trusted third party bridges. A few options are shared below:
Please Note: Bridges have been the victim of large hacks in the past. You should always be vigilant about what you are signing and never transact with more than you are prepared to lose on an Alpha/Beta or unaudited application. While risk is always present, risks on new networks are likely to be much higher than more established networks like the Ethereum L1.

Mint or Trade NFTs
Non-Fungible Tokens are one of the breakaway successes of the 2021 crypto bull run. They are certainly here to stay and many traditionally finance focused blockchains now offer NFT specific functionality. Additionaly some companies offer NFT rewards in exchange for completing tasks which can later be used as criteria for receiving an airdrop. Therefore it likely makes sense to either mint or trade NFTs on native platforms for the chain and also to complete any official challenges from the network that result in an NFT as a reward.
Below are some potential platforms and notable projects for engaging with NFTs on zkSync Era.
Transact on a DEX
Transactions on a decentralised exchange are likely to be one of the core goals for a financial network so it makes sense to make some transactions on popular and chain specific DEXs. When using new and chain specific DEXs, there may also be a small chance that the DEX will provide an additional airdrop of their own in the future. Volume may be important here but never transact with more than you are prepared to lose on experiemental applications. Below are some potential DEXs for transaction on zkSync.
Additional Considerations
While the above steps are likely to help you qualify if there is an airdrop in the future, there are additional things you may want to consider based on prior airdrops by other L2 networks.
- Interacting over multiple distinct days and/or months (2-9)
- Interact with multiple smart contracts (4-100)
- Higher volume transactions ($10k – $250K USD)
- Vote on DAO governance for zkSync projects on Snapshot.org
- Make Donations on Gitcoin
Ultimately airdrops are designed to encourage legimate users and use of their chain. So if you regularly engage with the ecosystem in an authentic way, you are likely to receive an airdrop if one is issued.
